Beef Shares
Beef Shares
Stock your freezer with grass-fed and finished beef from Rocklyn Springs Farm.
Our beef shares are currently sold by hanging weight, not by the final packaged weight. This means the amount you pay is based on the weight of your share after the animal is processed but before the beef is cut, trimmed and packaged.
We currently offer quarter, half and whole beef shares.
Pricing
-
Quarter Beef — $9.15/lb hanging weight
-
Half Beef — $8.75/lb hanging weight
-
Whole Beef — $8.50/lb hanging weight
The larger the share, the lower the price per pound.
Estimated Share Sizes
Our cattle typically have a hanging weight of approximately 400 lb. Actual weights will vary from animal to animal.
Based on a 400 lb hanging weight:

-
Half: approximately 200 lb hanging weight — ~$1,750
-
Whole: approximately 400 lb hanging weight — ~$3,400
These are estimates only. Your final price will be calculated using the actual hanging weight of your animal.

Whole — $750 deposit
The deposit is applied to your final balance.
What does hanging weight mean?
Hanging weight is the weight of the animal after slaughter and initial processing. It includes the bones and other parts that will be removed during cutting and trimming.
Your final packaged freezer weight will therefore be less than the hanging weight. The exact amount you take home depends on how the beef is cut and trimmed.
What's included?
Your beef will be professionally cut, vacuum packaged and frozen. You will receive a variety of cuts from your share, including ground beef, steaks, roasts and other cuts according to the animal.
Pickup
Beef shares are picked up at Jay's Place in Waterloo once processing is complete. We will contact you with your final hanging weight, balance owing and pickup information.
Because every animal is different, exact weights and the final assortment of cuts will vary.
If you're new to buying beef by the share and aren't sure whether a quarter, half or whole beef is right for you, please reach out and we're happy to help you choose a size that makes sense for your household and freezer!
